| Weekends
are for resting, spending time alone and/or exploring the island with others. Past participants have enjoyed snorkeling and swimming at a variety of beaches as well as experiencing the healing mana of warm ponds and waterfalls. There are hiking trails through Manuka and Volcano National Park, along the slopes of Mauna Kea, traversing the Ka'u desert, less strenuous hikes to Green Lake & Green Sands Beach and the option of wandering through exotic bird sanctuaries and botanical gardens. Throughout the year there are Hula performances and other events which allow one to experience the essence of Hawaiian culture. The diversity and Aloha Spirit of this island create endless potential for this pathless journey. |

"The symptom of
Aloha is inner peace. The winds sing of it, the rain falls through it, the palms move to it, the earth churns with it, the ocean rolls in it. It is Spirit moving form. It is the soul of all creation. It is Aloha... Aloha is found in silence, lived in peace and passed on in love." -from a sign in the local Na'alehu laundromat. |

confusion ceases, tranquility comes; when tranquility comes, wisdom
appears. When wisdom appears, reality is seen." -Keizan Jokan (1264-1325) |
